What's Connor Up to These Days?

Friday we went for Connor's 1 year "well baby" visit....only he wasn't well. We walked out of there with 2 prescriptions; one for pink-eye, and an antibiotic for a double ear infection. The good news (since I always try to see the positive in things) is that he didn't have to get his shots the day before his Birthday Bash! The bad news: he wasn't going to feel 100% for his big party. I asked Dr. Jon if we were going to have to cancel the party due to the pink-eye. I didn't know this, but 24 hours after you start the eye-drops, the child is no longer contagious. I made sure that everyone that asked about his eye KNEW that I had talked to the Doctor and that he WASN'T contagious. I didn't want to be "that mom" that had everyone bring their child into a pink-eye infested environment. We disinfected EVERYTHING before the kiddos came....I made sure the parents knew that too lol. :) Anyway, on to the important stuff! Here is what our big boy is up to these days:

  • Connor weighs 23lbs and measures 30 3/4in long. He is average weight and taller than 3 out of 4 boys his age.
  • Things he says: duck, ball, bath, dada, daddy, mama, baby, and doggie (sometimes)
  • Eating lots of big people food (chicken, cheese, and sandwiches are some of his favorites). He won't touch anything that says "Gerber" on it, and he throws anything orange or green on the floor.....I'm gonna have to find a way to sneak those veggies in there somehow lol! (BTW, big people food poop is incredibly disgusting.....maybe tmi, but I'm just sayin'...)
  • Since his big Birthday Bash yesterday, he has felt entitled to climb.....yesterday he climbed on the dishwasher while I was loading it, and today he is climbing into the wagon that Justin built him for his Birthday....Lord, help us!
  • Not walking yet, but cruises on everything! When he finds himself freestanding (which he does a LOT), he slowly lowers himself down into the sitting position....I just know that any day he is going to take off!
  • Still taking one or two 6oz bottles a day, but we have converted to real milk as opposed to formula! (Thats nice on the ol' bank account! Now if we could juuuuuuust get him out of diapers lol!) ;)
  • Drinks through a straw! He completely surprised me with that a couple weeks ago! I gave him a milk box, squeezed the milk out of it to see if he liked it, and he just started sucking through the straw! I was floored! So we bought straw cups and trashed the sippy's...he was never a fan of sippy's anyway.
  • Points at EVERYTHING! It's so cute :)

Everyday is something new, and he just continues to keep us on our toes! We love you, CJ!

Connor's "first" First Birthday Party!

Well, it's official....our baby boy is officially a year old, and has had TWO parties to prove it! Last Sunday was his actual Birthday (March 21st). We celebrated with a nice family party at Nana and Granddads while the snow continued to fall from the day before. We had presents, cake, and Granddad's homemade ice cream! Connor was VERY neat about eating his cake (I'd love to have a neat eater on our hands....we'll see as the time goes by just how neat he REALLY is lol). Here are a few pictures from his first party :)

Check out that party face!

I love this one....he's like "Get in here Granddad, I'm ready to eat CAKE!!"

Dear Sweet Connor

Dear Connor,

It was this particular Saturday a year ago that your dad and I were patiently (and I mean PATIENTLY) awaiting your arrival into this world. :) You were definitely running the show, and a year later, you still are. :) You are the absolute light in our lives, and we are so proud that you are ours. It is scheduled to snow on on your FIRST BIRTHDAY, tomorrow. We just can't believe it! You have definitely brought the snow with you during your sweet first year of life. It snowed on your first Christmas too. You are too precious, you must know how much your mom loves snow ;) But sweetheart, it's springtime now, and enough is enough lol. You are standing up by the recliner, and you are typing as I am trying to type this. As I keep telling you "no", you keep laughing at me.....cutie :) Connor, I was pretty sure you would be close to arriving around this time, but nooooooo sir, it would be another 8 1/2 hours before you had to be removed from your warm, dark hiding place. You had your own schedule then, and you clearly have your own schedule now :) Everyday your dad and I love you more and more, and we are so very blessed to have you in our lives. Tomorrow you turn ONE! Time sure has gone by fast, love. Seems like just yesterday, we found out that we were expecting a sweet new arrival to the family. That has been almost 2 years ago. I wish I could slow time down just a little bit,but since I can't, your dad and I will cherish absolutely every single moment with you. We love you, pumpkin!

Here you are eating a big boy dinner of chicken nuggets and ketchup. Yesterday you suprised me when you knew how to drink through a straw, and every single day, you amaze us with something else you have learned.
