9 months

I can not believe our big boy is 9 months old! Here is just a quick post about what he's up to these days, and a few pictures from Christmas!

Connor is:
  • Crawling EVERYWHERE (and completely wearing Justin and I OUT!)

  • Pulling up on EVERYTHING (and completely wearing Justin and I OUT!)

  • Eating lots of different foods; fruits, veggies, pasta, eggs, cheese, melties, yogurt, mashed potatoes....you name it, he's eatin' it! The kid LOVES his food!

  • Learning a little bit of "cause and effect." Connor, if you try to pull that vase over one more time, you will get a little smack on the back of the hand....lol. He is doing FAIRLY well with "No" too.

  • Testing us like CRAZY! (and completely wearing Justin and I OUT!)

  • Standing in his crib....yikes! Tonight I had to remove the front bumper pad because it gives him an extra 3-4inch boost, and I am afraid he might go head first out of the bed!

  • Still cruising like crazy in his walker. We are going to wait to get a casual dining table in the new house because we don't want to take away his walking space lol!

  • Saying "mama" and "dada", clapping and saying "aaaaayyyyyyy" and fluctuating his voice while doing it lol

  • Standing on his head and putting his butt in the air...it's his latest "trick"

In case you missed it in the last post, Connor is 21lbs, 29.5 inches long, and has a 48cm head! He is taller than 8 out of 10 boys his age, and is still considered "slender" for his age.....the kid must have an AMAZING metabolism! Momma's jealous :) Our little guy is just growing like a weed, and every day is so much fun (and SOOOO much work!!). A little less than 3 months, and we will be celebrating the big ONE! Until then, I am going to cherish every single moment, and every moment after :)

Here are some pics from Christmas Eve! I still can't believe it snowed!

Connor was ALL about his Christmas Eve dinner :)

Here is Connor with his Great-Grandpa! We were so glad to have him visit this Christmas!

Here is a GREAT picture of me and my son after he had skipped 2 naps that day...lol

Connor's First (WHITE!!!) Christmas! Oh, and 9 month stats mixed in with the post :)

Oh the weather outside was TRULY frightful, especially when we got in the Jeep to come home from the Birch Family Christmas celebration!

Rewind about 6 hours:

Connor would NOT take his 3:00 nap! We tried from 3:00-4:00 to get the little guy down but I can ASSURE you he was NOT havin' it! SO what did we do? Skipped the nap, ASSUMED he would go down at Nana and Granddad's, and loaded up to head to the Birch house for our annual Christmas Eve par-tay! As we were getting ready to leave, we put the pups outside, and I had a thought....."what if it snows, and we can't make it home to let them inside?!?!" Panic set in, and I suggested we take 2 cars to mom and dad's. Something about women's intuition ;) I left, and Justin soon followed in the Jeep.

Connor refused to nap at Nana and Granddad's....he was exhausted, red eyes and all. I gave him his night-night bottle about 30 minutes early, thinking that would help him relax....nope, no such luck. The sweet kid just didn't want to miss a THING! So after 2 hours of trying to get the little guy down, we brought him downstairs for dinner :) He enjoyed Nana's mashed potatoes and homemade rolls (annnnnd so did I!!) :)

Around 7:30, the drab rain turned into the most beautiful snow, equipped with VERY large snowflakes! It was coming down pretty hard, coating the vehicles with a solid white blanket. Justin took Connor out for a second and let a few flakes land on his head. He shuddered because it was SO cold....his face was precious :)

We opened presents around 8 or so.....Connor was stillllll up, taking it all in :) He loves to watch people and activity, and let me tell you, there was plenty of both! :)

So here we are, ready to take on the frightful weather:

We moved Connor's carseat from my car to the jeep. It was too big to face backwards, so we had to face it forward. I was a little nervous about that because CJ hasn't reached the "required" age of 1, but he has reached the weight requirement (SIDENOTE: At his 9 month check-up, he was 21lbs, 29.5inches long, and has a 48cm head! That's my boy!...anyway, back to the story) The snow was really coming down on our way home. The roads were bad and the visibility wasn't too great either. We had a long way to go with many treacherous hills ahead of us. We drove in the snow for about 30 minutes...we were a mile from home when we heard this AWFUL, LOUD, noise. I immediately dropped an "F" bomb...Connor had fallen asleep, so he missed my "oops" :) Justin informed me that he thought the U-joints had broken off the front drive shaft, and that we would have to continue our journey in 2WD. I was JUST thinking about all the stranded cars that only had 2WD, and "what do you do in that situation if you have a baby?" I started praying out loud....yes, after I asked for forgiveness for my "F" bomb. The little way we had to go was NOT a main street, does NOT have shoulders, and does NOT have guard rails. I was VERY scared. Justin did an absolutely fabulous job getting us home, and when we pulled into the driveway, I was more relieved than I had been in a long time. Thank you, God, and thank you, Justin :)

SO, that was our Christmas Eve Adventure! Hope you all had a VERY Merry Christmas! I have more posts and pics to come :)

Santa's Visit

I was so VERY excited to find out that Santa Claus visits our neighborhood every year, along with the local volunteer fire department! What a wonderful surprise! Sunday, we waited anxiously ALL day for Santa to make his big arrival on the firetruck. Around 3:30pm, we heard the sirens and knew he was close by! :) I had Connor all decked out in his little Christmas outfit so that we could get a picture with Santa. When Mr. Claus said hello to CJ, he buried his little face in my shoulder and let out a...well....kinda "scared" cry....BUT, if you REALLY think about it, Santa is a little intimidating. I mean, come on, all that facial hair?! A large man dressed in ALL RED?! I was probably a little scared (or maybe terrified) of my first encounter with Santa....I'll have to ask my mom :) Santa brought Connor a little goodie bag, and then went on down the road to see the other kiddos. I can't wait until Connor is a little older and really "believes". We also had a Christmas photo shoot at the house (courtesy of Brooke's Professional Photography) ;) I was worried we wouldn't have time get Christmas cards out this year, but after getting the PERFECT shot, I uploaded it to Walgreens.com, chose a photo card, and picked them up within the hour. I LOVE technology :) Here are some of our pics! With Christmas being 10 days away (yikes) I don't know if I will have time to blog, so if I don't....Merry MERRY Christmas and God Bless! :)

And let me leave you with this face below......there literally ARE no words......

"Yeaaaaaaaaa!!"

We have been saying that a LOT in the Scarlet household lately! Why, you ask? Because Connor has learned to clap, and we just can't get enough of his latest trick :) Here is a quick clip of Connor clapping for Big Boys and clapping for Spaghetti dinner! (not the REAL Spaghetti, the baby food kind....trust me, when he eats the real deal we'll have the whole thing on video!) :)

We're Home

Well, we made it! We are here in our new home. Life is a little unorganized, but it's slowly coming along. I only took one day off to move, but I am looking forward to my 2 weeks off starting December 21st! That 2 weeks will give me some time to really get this place lookin' good! Sometimes Justin and I just stand around and talk about how blessed we feel to be here. We plan on being here for a very long time, possibly forever. Have I mentioned how much I HATE moving?! Wow....yeah.....I literally, with every single ounce of my being, NEVER want to do this again! We have a LOT of stuff! We found ourselves throwing a lot away, and giving a lot to other people. I love throwing stuff away :)
Have I also mentioned how amazing our friends and family are? Several people helped us with the tedious job of moving. I mean, seriously, when someone asks you to help them move, what's your first thought? Well, I'll be honest, mine is, "Yeah, I guess I will help because I like you, but I want to do as little as possible, and if you find someone else to help, then cut me some serious slack.....I really don't want to help..." Lol.....it's true, and you KNOW you think the same thing! ;) Don't get me wrong, I will help any single one of my friends or family......but.....well, now you know how I feel :)
We are getting decorated for Christmas.....Justin has the tree up, and I can't wait to see what Connor thinks of it tomorrow :) SPEAKING of Connor, he is getting up on all four's and rocking vigorously back and forth. He moves like an inch worm when he sees something he wants (specifically the remote or his little cheese crunchies. Just like a man; motivated by the remote and food!) He is just a day or two away from fully crawling (YIKES!!) Last night, at Uncle Steve's 50th Birthday Party, Connor went from being on his tummy to a sitting position all by himself! Way to go little man! :)
Enough blogging, back to work! Sorry there aren't any pictures with this post. I don't know where the camera is, and I haven't taken any lately. Enjoy the rest of your weekend!
