Connor is 2 months old!

Today, our sweet little newborn is ALREADY 2 months old! He is so alert these days. He loves watching the ceiling fan and gazing at overhead lights. The bouncy chair is his favorite toy right now, and he is getting really good at kicking the little toys on the bouncy chair that make it light up and play music! Way to go little man! He is smiling a LOT and "talking" all the time. Every day we feel so blessed to have him in our lives. Sometimes I just look at him and want to cry (an happy cry of course...) because I am so humbled by this little gift from God.


Ok, ok, enough with my sappiness...lol. In other news :) KRIS ALLEN won American Idol last night! I will have to admit, I shed a few tears when they announced his name instead of Adam Lambert's name. I was SO SURE that Adam had won. They showed a montage of Kris' journey through Idol, and in the beginning he said, "I'm Kris, I'm 23, and I'm a student." I was thinking: "NOT ANYMORE!!" :) Way to go, Kris! Our first Arkansas American Idol!

I have about 3 more weeks before I go back to work. I am looking forward to it a little, but it sure will be an adjustment, and I am going to MISS my little guy like CRAZY! Luckily he will be in the wonderful, loving hands of my mom and my mother-in-law, aka: Nana and Gramma :)

Connor gave Justin and I a WONDERFUL night's sleep on Tuesday night. 10:30pm-5:45am! I fed him at 5:45 and he went back down until 7:45. I crawled back in bed after feeding him, only to realize that I was awake and the house was quiet, so I took FULL advantage. I went to Starbucks and got coffee, and drove by dad's office to visit. He was headed out, so I didn't stay but for a second. It sure was nice to be up and about in the morning......I would LOVE to become a morning person. Maybe Connor will help make that happen :)

Mommy is trying to avoid the camera until she gets this baby weight off, but this picture was too cute. Connor's girlfriend, Jocelyn, came over on Sunday night, so Connor decided to put on his first pair of shorts. :)

He still has pretty blue eyes.....I am anxious to see if they stay that way.

Fun with the Lasko's and Happy Mother's Day!

This past weekend, my mom's family was in from all over the country (Iowa, Michigan, Arizona, and Colorado) to lay my sweet Grandma's ashes to rest in the National Cemetary in Fayetteville. She passed on in July 2007, but due to some health issues in the family, we were unable to get everyone together immediately after she passed. We had an intimate family celebration of her life on Friday, May 8th. My dad facilitated the ceremony, talking about Grandma's "-ing's, -ness', and -ful's", and reading an endearing poem that touched us all in different ways. Men in uniform presented the flag to my Grandpa, and my Uncle Geoff played taps on his trumpet. As a light rain fell, she was placed into the ground, covered with beautiful flowers, and finally laid to rest.

On a lighter note, it was absolutely wonderful to spend time with my mom's family. The last time we were all together was when Justin and I got married....over 3 years ago! The Lasko crew is a blast, let me tell ya! Never a dull moment! It was so nice to spend time with everyone. :) Here is my Grandpa holding his Great-Grandson for the first time! Doesn't he look so proud? :)

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!!!

Mom's are amazing aren't they? I always knew that, but not like I know now! I think that everyday should be Mother's Day, and that all mom's deserve a special "thank-you" or a sweet blessing each day of their lives. I never knew how hard being a mom was until I had Connor, and I know that this is ONLY the begining. There will be many wonderful and challenging years ahead, but I am prepared to face them with the help of MY mom, and my Mother-in-Law. I am so very thankful to have these two awesome women in my life. I learn something from each of them every single day.

My Mother's Day came a little early. Saturday, Justin wasn't feeling well at all. Possibly a migraine, maybe a stomach bug....who knows. All I know is that he was down and out ALL day, and that it was just me and the baby until around 6:00pm or so (Single moms.....God Bless you all, I don't know how you do it...). When Justin woke up, I was playing Wii, and Connor was in his bouncy chair justa' talkin' up a storm! He started to get fussy, so Justin offered to change his diaper. Hell, I had changed about 50 diapers that day, so I didn't hesitate to let him step in and do some daddy duties. When he brought Connor back in the living room, Connor immediately peed in his new diaper (he just LOVES to dirty a brand new diaper....we are going to go BROKE on diapers....lol!). Justin told me that he had to pee and asked if I would change it. After I finished, Justin asked if I changed it.

I said: "Yep"

He said: "How was it?" (I thought this was an odd question....)

I said: "Fine, it was just a big pee."

He said: "Show me." (Ok, now THIS is strange...why in the WORLD would he want to see it!)

I took him back to Connor's room, pointed into the diaper trash can and said, "There, it's on top, check it out if you want to" (Still, I'm thinking how gross and weird this whole conversation is). Right as I am saying that, I realize there is something written on the diaper that I had just taken off of Connor. It says: "SEE DAD FOR MOTHER'S DAY GIFT." Ooooo, I was excited! I got all giddy, like a 4 year old with an ice cream cone! My darling husband presented me with a pair of 1 carat Aquamarine earrings. They are absolutely gorgeous, and extra special because Aquamarine is Connor's birthstone. Justin told me I deserved my gift a day early since I had taken care of the baby all day without his help. What a sweetheart!

My first Mother's Day with my little blessing

Getting a few more Zzzzzz's :)

It's been a couple weeks since I've posted. Connor is sleeping a lot less during the day, so I haven't had as much time to keep up with the blog! Naughty me, I know! :) But since Connor is sleeping LESS during the day, he is sleeping MORE at night! Yippee!! Gosh, last week we had one night where we put him down at 11:30 and he didn't wake up until 5:00am! That has been his longest stretch so far! (Wish we had more nights like that!) For the most part, Connor is waking up once or twice at night to eat, and then he goes right back down. No more inconsolable screaming for hours at a time!! (for now anyway! I've learned that once I think I've got Connor's schedule figured out, he changes it up.)

Connor has started taking a few naps in his bed! We want to get him used to his bed for the big switch here in a couple of weeks. The kid loves to be swaddled, but HAS to have his hands or arms sticking out so he can put them by his sweet little face :)

This past Saturday, Connor was 6 weeks old! I can't believe it....already! He has started cooing and smiling, especially when I have him in his bouncer and tell him to "talk to me" in my super excited baby voice...lol! Notice that the onsie has a jeep on it....can you guess who picked that one out? :)

He loves going for walks with me and Nana (my mom STILL hasn't decided what she wants to be called so I'm just going with Nana for now. Justin calls her GeeBee-for Grandma Birch....lol, that just cracks me up. Who knows what mom will be....ultimately, it's up to the little man in charge.) Here he is all ready to go walking :)

Last Thursday, Justin and I went on our first dinner date since little man was born, and Connor got to spend a little time with Nana/GeeBee (or should we spell it GiBi? Ooooo, I kind of like that! lol!) Anyway, we went to Outback, which, ironically, is where we went the night we went into the hospital to be induced. We HAD to indulge in little desert since it was our first official "date" :) Those of you who know me, knooooooow how much I love me some DESERT! :)

Saturday, I went out for 4 1/2 hours without Connor. (Yay me!!!) That is the longest I have left him alone since he was born. It was Stacey's Birthday Celebration, and we spent the day having lunch at Red Lobster and going to see Ghost of Girfriends Past. We had a great time! It was also Justin's first day alone with Connor. I have to admit, I wasn't too worried....I knew that he could handle it, and he did. After being gone all afternoon, I was ready to get home and see my boys. I sure missed my baby.....and my husband too :)

And here we are today. 6 1/2 weeks old, and changing every day. He is such a bright spot in our lives. Sweet faces like this make me forget about all the screaming (only for a second...lol!)
