Relaxing on Friday Night

Hey all! Just wanted to provide a quick update on the progress of things. Does that little baby ticker say that my child can already flip people off? Oh my.....we are going to have to talk about that in about 7 months. Things are still going well. I am suffering quite a bit more nausea these days, but nothing too horrific. No really strange cravings either, although Tuesday night Justin had to take me to the IHOP for dinner because I really really wanted some Chocolate Chip Pancakes....lol! I didn't want him to park by the road because I was embarrassed to be at IHOP at 6:30pm on a Tuesday...lol..but he did anyway! There was a show on pancakes on Monday night, and that's where the craving started. I thought about pancakes all day Tuesday!! I felt like if I didn't get chocolate chip pancakes I was going to go INSANE!! I am lucky to have such an understanding husband who gladly had eggs and sausage for dinner to satisfy my pancake passion.

Below is a picture of the crib that we really like (Ok, Justin likes, I LOVE...). It is a convertible bed, meaning it can go from a crib, to a toddler daybed, to a full size bed using the front and back as a head board and foot board. We still have some time to buy furniture, but so far, this one is a winner!

We have a very busy weekend planned. Tomorrow we are going to the first Razorback game of the new Petrino era! We are hoping to see a blowout against Western IL!! WOO PIG SOOIE!! Tonight we ventured to the mall (it's whatcha' do on a Friday night if you are either 14 or pregnant...lol) to get some new Hog gear. We both got new t-shirts, and Justin got a really sweet hat! Sunday we are going to try and make our way to Lake Tenkiller for a little day trip, and Monday....ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh Monday......Dad is going to make his famous ribs! Those of you who have indulged in his ribs are probably very jealous right now :) I am going to save room all weekend so I can participate in a little indulging myself. Gotta' get Baby Scarlet started on these ribs early! Should be an eventful weekend....certainly the most eventful we've had since we found out we were pregnant. Hopefully I will hold up ok, but if I need to bow out on anything, bet your butt it will be Saturday or Sunday. I am not missing Monday for anything! :) Enjoy your Labor Day weekend! We love you all!

It's official!

Dr. McClanahan made it official today! Here are the first pictures of Baby Scarlet! We are 8 weeks into this wild and crazy journey, and everything looks great! I got to see his or her tiny heart beating on the screen today. It was just a little glowing flicker, but it was the cutest flicker I've ever seen. I didn't know we would be doing an ultrasound this early into the pregnancy. I just thought today's visit would be an extensive overview of medical history, pregnancy plans, etc. I told Justin it was ok to sit this visit out because it would be terribly boring. Boy, was I wrong....I feel bad that he wasn't there to see the heartbeat, but we go back on September 17th to hear the heartbeat, and Justin will definitely be there. Baby Scarlet is set to arrive on March 31st (or anytime after March 10th....)! Thanks to everyone for all their prayers, support, and love. We are grateful for all of you!

Fighting Monday....

It's about 10:00pm on Sunday evening, and I am doing my best to put off Monday....if only it was that easy, we would all have it made! :)

Justin had to work in Tulsa on Saturday, so I tagged along for the ride (and the shopping!!). We had lunch at PF Changs, where I was dying to indulge in a dish called Tam's Noodles. When the waitress took our order, she informed me that they no longer served Tam's Noodles. UGH! Have you ever been in the mood to eat something really badly, and you thought about it for hours and hours, and when you FINALLY get to where you think you'll get it, YOU CAN'T HAVE IT!?! Well, multiply that feeling by 1,000,000,000, and that's what it feels like when you are pregnant! I felt like someone took the wind out of my sail. I was completely bummed and disappointed. I didn't know if I would make it through the rest of the day, but I managed to get it together and pick something else off the menu. At that point I was so hungry that food was food, and I would take what I could get. Plus, indulging in a glass of their passion fruit tea helped me to overcome my disappointment.

After a little shopping, and some GREAT sales, Justin and I started to head back to Fort Smith. Right before we got on the highway, Justin turned into the parking lot of a store we had never set foot in: Babies R Us. Oh my GOSH, I was overwhelmed with ALL of the things that babies "need" to survive these days! Wipe warmers, fancy swings that you can plug your IPod into, video surveillance monitors, boppy pillows, onsies, bibs, and pacifiers GALORE, a MILLION different types of bottles and nipples.....and that was JUST the beginning! Was all of this stuff around 27 years ago when I was a baby?! How did I ever become a responsible adult without the help of a wipe warmer, and an IPod swing?! We looked at cribs, changing tables, gliders, and bedding, and then it hit me like a ton of bricks......BABIES ARE EXPENSIVE! You hear people say it all the time, but MY GOODNESS!! I could have easily spent $10,000 in one day, furniture and all....wow....yeah. But like most expectant mom's, I am really looking forward to picking out all of that stuff for our little bundle of joy, and I think Justin is too. :)

Most of today was spent laying around, relaxing. We had a nice steady rain, which made for a great lazy day. I am STILL trying to fight off Monday, but it's approaching fast. I better give in and hit the sack. Goodnight! :)

6 weeks

Tomorrow marks the 6th week of baby Scarlet's little life. I have added a humorous baby ticker to our page to track the development of our little "bean", as Justin likes to call it. :) Our first appointment is August 21st....gosh that seems SO far away!

This past weekend we went to Lake Hamilton with our neighbors, the Hossley's, and our friend Kyle. It was a very relaxing weekend for Justin and me. Everyone participated in a little tubing and skiing (well..... almost everyone...don't worry, mom, not me!) We ate like kings and queens, and we all got a little sun! At times the heat was incredibly unbearable, but that's the point when you either jump in the water or get that boat moving! I just love looking at all of the gorgeous homes on Lake Hamilton! Everyone's yard looked amazing, like a golf course! I suppose when you can use the lake water to water your lawn, it's bound to look great!

Thank you all for your love, support, and prayers! We greatly appreciate it during this new and exciting adventure!
