The Documented Tale of the Football Easter Egg

Ok, so I bought the PAAS sports Easter egg decorating kit.....signs that I'm still a new mom (2 years later): I didn't even THINK that by shrink wrapping a little picture of a football, baseball, basketball or soccer ball around the egg that my two year old little BOY would want to THROW them! Luckily, I was able to talk him out of throwing them....at first.

Here is a 3-part video set of Connor and the football Easter egg. :) Bless his heart....his face in the first one clearly shows that I was very adamant about NOT breaking the eggs....lol! Love him! :)

After it fell off the table, Daddy took him outside to play with it :)

He's clearly not a fan.....but maybe someday! (or maybe not if he's anything like his Daddy!) He also kept asking Justin if he would put the shell "back on" lol!

Party Animal Take Two.....

Saturday, we enjoyed a WONDERFUL Toy-Story themed Birthday party for the cutest two-year old I know ;)  We chose to keep it small this year, just family, including The Hossley's, who are Connor's Godparents, and their boys, Baylor and Benton, who are like Connor's brothers....and on the flip side, Benton is OUR Godson. We have been friends and neighbors for six years.  We have a wonderful relationship with their family, and are thankful to have them as a part of ours. :)

Keeping it small gave Justin and I an opportunity to truly enjoy Connor at his party. Last year was nuts! We had 40 people, tons of food, lots of kids, loads of presents, a Spongebob bounce around, a brief DOWNPOUR, and we endured HOURS of prep work. We were so busy with everything going on that it just felt more like work than an actual birthday party. You know the drill. This year we had 14 people, a couple of dips, three cute kiddos, a few presents, backyard toys, pizza, cake, and just a little bit of prep work.  Talk about being able to sit back, relax, and enjoy! We had a ball! OH, and not to mention the money we saved! Lol! Those parties can get pretty expensive, as most of you probably know. Granted, where we saved, we spent.  Connor got one of those million piece wooden swing sets for his birthday. I documented it's construction and plan to post about it later. I realize that in a year or two, Connor will be choosing the dynamics of his birthday parties, so until he demands Chuck E. Cheese or The Monkey House, we're keepin' it simple. :)

Ok, so there's a slight gap in pictures here....let me explain; After I took that last picture (above), I stepped out in the garage to grab a drink. Somewhere between the picture and the drink, I misplaced the camera. I was absolutely devastated. I ran around like a crazy momma, looking EVERYWHERE! I was so nuts that I had other people just as nuts looking for the camera!  It literally vanished.  When the Hossley's showed up, Justin told them what happened, and Richard went home to get theirs.  After about four pictures, their memory card was full.  Justin got a few photos with his cell phone, but they just aren't the same, ya know? So for the 4th time, I retraced my steps out to the garage....only this time, I looked in a box that was sitting by the garage door. BINGO! Now, WHY I put it there, I will never be able to tell you. But the important thing is that I found it! I could breathe again :)

In the meantime, Melissa and her sister, Heather, showed up! There's blonde Melissa sitting on the couch! She's such a doll. We love her :) Uncle Drew was in Colorado celebrating Spring Break, so I thought it was VERY sweet that she came anyway :) She brought her sister, who happens to be my age, who also happens to be pregnant with her first child, a BOY! I loved her! It was such a pleasure to meet her :)

The Hossley boys showed up on their Power Wheels', and there just happened to be a big gift in tow on the John Deere Gator! Forget taking it inside with the rest of the gifts, let's open it NOW!

So Connor started the afternoon wearing a Buzz Lightyear shirt, but as SOON as he opened a Spiderman shirt from Melissa and her sister, it was off with Buzz, on with Spiderman! Lol! Hey, it's his party, he can wear whatever he wants :)

Pizza time! No two-year old birthday party would be complete without a little fussin.....

You KNOW it was good when you are wearing the cake on your face! But.....he is reaching his arm out because he wants my "pink cake!" That's right, the little stinker wanted my freshly cut piece of strawberry cake, so........

 I gave it to him :) Besides, what kind of mother would I be if I didn't? It is, after all, HIS birthday! :)

 This is one VERY satisfied, VERY sugared up little cowboy! Nana looked everywhere for a Woody hat, and it just so happens that she found one.  And Connor aboslutely loves it. He also loves the card that came with it....it's a musical card that sings the Toy Story theme song, "You've Got a Friend in Me." He carries it everywhere, singing, "Frien-n-me."



Connor, I hope your day was as extra special as you are.  We love you, and can't wait to see what this next year holds!

Party Animal Take One.....

After our big trip to the Zoo on Monday, and his 2 year check-up on Tuesday, Connor returned to daycare with cupcakes in tow!  I asked his sitter to take a few pics of his "school party", and she gladly obliged. :)

You may be wondering if there are any girls that go to his daycare.....well, there are....they just all happened to be asleep during lunch and cupcakes. Gotta get that beauty rest, I suppose..... ;)

Two Year Check-Up!

This crazy dancing fool is a whopping 29 lbs 2 oz and 35 3/4 inches tall!

That puts him at about six feet tall when he is all grown up

(if that whole "they are half their height at age two" still holds true).

Luckily there were no shots due this time around, and in fact, there are no more shots until he is FOUR! This makes for a very happy Mommy! :)

Dr. Jon asked us how our winter was.  I told him, "Good! We didn't see you did we?" :) Yes, I can finally say (since winter is officially over) that we did not visit the doctor one single time for sickness.  If you recall, we were in the doctor's office every couple of weeks last winter with ear infection after ear infection. With some lifestyle modification (cutting dairy), allergy medication, and garlic ear drops, we were able to avoid tubes....and in August, we finally got a spot in a home daycare.  So this winter, instead of being around 60 sick kids, he was around maybe ten. And for the most part, if the kids are sick, the parents flat out don't bring them! Unlike some parents who load their feverish child up on tylenol to get a few hours in at daycare....that really irks me.  Anyway, sorry, tangent.......we had a wonderful winter, and we are so thankful for a happy, healthy little boy!

For the most part, Connor did really well at his appointment....he walked in on his own, waited patiently by the counter (with his little hands crossed) while I checked in, walked back to the patient room on his own.....annnnnnd then came the part where he needed to stand on the scale to weigh. Complete and total refusal.  We tried to get him to sit on the scale....again....refusal, and I'm talking gripping-my-neck-and-wrapping-his-legs-around-me-while-crying refusal. So how did we get his weight? Well, against my will, I had to step on the scale, first without him, and then with him.  Oh joy....the one thing I dread about my OWN doctor's appointments, I had to participate in at Connor's doctor's appointment.  The ultimate sacrifice, son....I love you. Lol :)

All the hammin' it up stopped when Dr. Jon walked in, but he still did great, and was still very happy!

Oh, and you know those waiting room and patient room toys I SWORE I'd never let him play with? Well, these days, I don't have much of a say-so.

He is talking in big sentences these days, totally know what he wants and when he wants it, and always wants to do what the big boys do.....slow down sweetie, you're still my baby :) He is still pretty much AGAINST veggies...unless they are carrots and there is ranch dressing near by. Then in that case, the carrot becomes the dip stick for the ranch, but the actual carrot never gets eaten! :) He loves bananas, apples, peaches, strawberries, smoothies, bacon, cookies, gummie snacks, shredded cheese, chicken nuggets, fish sticks, chicken salad, and PIZZA! Yes, all very healthy, I know......hey, I didn't say that's ALL he eats, I just said that's what he loves! ;)

Every week, day, minute, hour, and second....he's growing....and it's happening INCREDIBLY fast, and we love EVERY bit of it!

Spending TWO at the ZOO!

Monday after pancakes, we loaded up and headed to the Tulsa Zoo!  It was Connor's first big road trip (well, aside from that whole disaster we dealt with when we took Connor to Mt. Magazine when he was 8 weeks old.....WHAT were we thinking!? I think that's why we waited almost 2 years to take another one lol!). He did very well! Of course, having a DVD player in the Tahoe helped juuuuuust a little :) He also brought all of his snugglies.

Connor had been SO excited to go to the zoo and see the hippos! I don't know why he was so stuck on seeing the hippos, but it sure was cute to hear him say "hipp-ooooo" lol! I asked around and had heard that there were hippos at the Tulsa Zoo, but unfortunately, there weren't any.

We had lunch at the Safari Grill inside the zoo. $6.50 for a chicken Cesar salad that had MAYBE 6 pieces of lettuce and a small handful of chicken?! Guess that's where they make up their profit since it's only $6 to get in lol!  Plus, who cares about my lunch (I just haaaaad to vent)....it was Connor's day.  He had cheese pizza, grapes, strawberries, "tons" (crutons), and a couple fries....it was a lunch fit for a Birthday King! :) Did I mention how much this child is GROWING right now?! Oh, well thats in the next post :)

Our first stop was in Webbers Falls to get gas.  While we were there, he picked up a Spiderman drink! SCORE!

When we got there, the poor guy was a little car sick.....thank goodness we brought a change of clothes.  From Spiderman to Toy Story.  Both winning t-shirts in Connor's eyes :)

Ready for a fun day at the ZOO!

 

Our first stop...the Elephants.  When he say the elephant walk across the yard, he was locked in dead stare. I truly don't think he knew what to think about this massive creature that was very real right in front of him!

Connor loved the mammoth.  Probably more so than the actual real elephants lol!  Go figure :)

After we left the elephants, we headed toward the monkeys.....however we hd to make a 5 minute pit-stop at this vending machine and press every button at least 647 times! Our boy LOVES buttons :)

You can imagine how proud Justin and I were when Connor called the Hogs upon approaching this RAZORBACK!!!!

Oh, and I don't care WHAT this says....I think it's some kind of Oklahoma scam...totally. That way they don't get in trouble for having an Arkansas Razorback in their zoo! ;)

There are deer and turkeys behind Connor in this picture. He thought they were pretty neat, although they were kind of hard to see.

He also loved the black bear.....even though we caught the bear using the bathroom as soon as we approached the fence.  And let me tell you, that was the LONGEST pee I have ever known anyone or anything to take. Goodness!

Connor LOVES to watch "Shrek the Halls" (it's a Shrek Christmas show). He calls it "Shrek Donkey", so when we came across this guy, the Birthday Boy was pretty pumped!

And we may need to work on our zoo animals....Connor was pretty sure this was a cat. :)

 

Leave it to our sweet son to want to love on the one goat who is uninterested in company. He always loves the animals who are kind of unsocial.....he loves mom's dog, Zoey, who curls up in the couch 24/7 in the same position as this goat lol! AND, she is black and white, so maybe he was making some sort of connection. Here, he is saying, "Look, Daddy! Goat!" over and over and over again lol!

Watching him interact in the petting zoo was just too fun. 

This goat still cracks me up every time I look at it LOL! I was glad to get his picture :) I tried to get Connor to stand by him, but he wasn't having any part of that.

Well, since there weren't any hippos, we triiiiiied to play the rhino's off as hippos....unfortunately, I don't think Connor was buying it.

Here we sat, waiting for the giraffe to get his butt back out! Lots of the animals were either sleeping, or were up away from the fence.  I was kind of bummed about that, but the show must go on :) Connor was having a BLAST, regardless!

Connor really loves lions, so I took this picture for him since he was far more interested in the plastic lion shaped water fountain. LOL! Go figure ;)

Our last stop was the PENGUINS! They were so cute! Connor kept saying, "Happy Feet!" The penguin in the background was stealing the show.....until Connor spotted the girl in the stroller (who he is looking at in this picture) with the Dora the Explorer shirt. He started pointing and excitedly chanting, "Dora, Dora, Dora!" and theeeeen he busted out his little happy dance.  He had everyone around him laughing.  That's our boy :) I was laughing so hard that I didn't get any pics! Shame on me! :)

After a successful day at the zoo, we all headed toward the gift shop to spend the birthday money that Connor's Great-Grandma Lou sent him!

And before we made it out of Tulsa, Connor and his new penguin snuggled up and passed out :)

He was such a happy boy! I kept turning around to watch him sleep, wondering if he was dreaming about his big TWO at the ZOO adventure :)
