Crystal and Lil' Miss Carley's Shower!

Andrea, Stephanie, Stacey, and I hosted a shower for Crystal and baby Carley Grace in my home on Saturday! It was a fantastic shower with great attention to detail (I just can't help myself....). We chose to go with a "High-heel Diva" theme for the shower, since Crystal just LOVES her heels (and I am pretty sure Carley will too!). The colors we chose for the shower were hot pink and lime green, accented with zebra print. I made Carley's Poppin' Pink Punch and rimmed the glasses with watermelon Pop Rocks! I was so proud of that punch...lol! Party planning really is a passion of mine, and I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to make a business out of it someday, so for any of you readers, if you know anyone who needs a good event planner, I'm your girl! :)
Crystal had a fantastic time, as did everyone else! The shower was TONS of fun, and Crystal got LOTS of great gifts! Here are a few pics from the shower! I will post more when I can get my hands on them!

We have teeth!

Well, Connor is 5 months old (as of 9 days ago) and has started cutting his 2 little bottom teeth. Front and center! He hasn't been TOO terribly fussy, but he is having his moments :) I cant imagine how bad that has to hurt him, poor guy. But he's a little trooper! I'd like to thank the makers of Children's Tylenol and Baby Bliss Gripe Water for helping us manage these tough times :) Oooooooooo, how I just LOVE him! Here are some pictures that Daddy took last week!

At 5 months old he is just "talking" up a STORM! He babbles ALL the time! He is eating cereal with fruit in the morning, 8oz bottles throughout the day (with the occasional banana or juice snack in the afternoon) and a half jar of fruit and half jar (or Gerber plastic container thingies) of veggies for dinner. At around 7 or 7:30, Connor takes his last bottle before hitting the sack around 8 or 8:30. He sleeps until 8 or so in the morning! SUCH a good boy! He has started rolling over in his sleep, so we bought one of those monitors with the little handheld video screen! Our high tech kiddo has a camera on his bed, so at night when he fusses a little, all we have to do is hit the button on the monitor to make sure he is ok! We love it! :)

He is still eating in his bouncer, but tries to sit up in it ALL the time! He also tries to grab the spoon and feed himself, so this morning, we tried him out in the Bumbo for breakfast. WOW, what a MESS!! Lol! Here are some pictures from our little adventure lol!

Oh, and I cheated.....I gave Connor a Gerber 2nd food. I know that it's for babies who are "Sitters" or who are 6 months old, but when I saw that Gerber made baby Mac and Cheese, I couldn't help it. Mac and Cheese is my FAVORITE food, so I wanted to share it with my kiddo :) Forgive me ;)

Rollin' Over and Just Jeepin'

I DON'T HAVE VIDEO (YET), but Connor James has FINALLY decided he wanted to start rolling over, back to front. He has done it here and there, but would scream bloody murder when he found hisself on his tummy. You would think it was the end of the world, and that they had cancelled Dora the Explorer!! Lol! Yeah, it was THAT bad! I went to check on him the other night while he was asleep and found this: I am finding this more and more when I go in to check on him in the middle of the night. Most of the time, I roll him back over. If he naps on his tummy during the day, I just let him be. We bought a video baby monitor (I know what you are thinking if you are from a different generation.....lol). But it's the coolest thing! There is a 2.5 inch screen on a handheld device that is linked to a small camera that we put in Connor's room. Now maybe I will be able to get back to sleep after checking on him since I dont have to walk across the house. The hardwood floors can be kinda cold on the ol' tootsies, therefore, waking me up even more! :)

JUST JEEPIN!

WE TOOK CONNOR FOR HIS FIRST JEEP RIDE last Saturday! Daddy was VERY excited to share his Jeep with his son! We went for a slow, short ride (mommy's request) around Ben Geren Park. Since he was in the back, facing the back, I wasn't sure if he was having a good time. I took the camera, held it the best I could toward him, snapped a pic, looked at it, and found this:
Now, isnt this the face of a kiddo that looks like he's having a good time! I thought so! I wanted to watch him for the rest of the ride, so Justin pulled over so I could get in the back with him. I snapped a few more pics, but this one is my favorite! I love it so much, I put it as the background on my phone!

Here, I caught the little guy mid sneeze....

Mommy and Connor home safely after our slow, short ride around the park!

Connor's 4 Month Appointment

Today we took Connor to see Dr. Jon for his 4 month check-up! Little man is 15lbs 12oz and 26 inches long! According to the doc, he is "taller" than 3 our of 4 boys his age, and is still a little slender for his height (slender, are you KIDDING me?!...lol.....). That's a HUGE growth spurt from his 2 month appointment (click here for 2 month stats). What a big boy! He had a couple shots today, but did very well.

Solid foods are going well.....and MUCH better since we have decided to add apple juice to the oatmeal as opposed to formula (thanks, mom, for the tip!). In fact, today was the first day that Connor consistently opened his mouth for each and EVERY bite of his dinner! I was a proud momma! In addition to oatmeal, he's had:

Peas (loved 'em!)

Sweet potatoes (He didn't really like these, AND they gave him a runny nose!)

Bananas (eh, these were just okay)

and Carrots...ohhhhh how he LOVES carrots! So far, they are his favorite!

I found absolutely NO GUIDE on how to feed solid foods...some say start with green veggies, some say start with yellow veggies, some say start with fruit.....IIIIIIIIIII SAY, do whatever you are comfortable with, period. :)

Connor is taking about four, 8oz bottles a day and one 4-6 oz bottle. Tonight, he had his first 4oz bottle of apple juice! Yummy in the TUMMY!

We are so blessed to have this little guy. He's amazing! He laughs ALOT, juuuuust like his momma! Glad to know he has the "happy gene!"

Oh, and sleeping....well, let's just say Justin and I are getting a LOT more sleep these days! Usually Connor goes down around 8:30 or so, and sleeps until 8:30am. I knew one day he'd sleep, but had anyone tried to tell me that in the first 18 weeks of his life, I would have told them that they were crazy lol! And yes, I get up a couple times a night to make sure he is still breathing....if you have kids, you've done it. Don't try to deny it :)

Have a fantastic week!

"You better eat that oatmeal!"

Our little munchkin is 4 months old! (Already?!) Here are some things he is doing at 4 months:

Connor started solid foods last Sunday! What a big boy! We tried rice cereal, but it was really hard on his little stomach, so we switched to oatmeal. He didn't seem to pleased on the first day, as seen here in this picture

But after he got the hang of it, he loved it! Pardon my dorkiness in the video below, but I love to hear him laugh and will do ANYTHING to make that happen! :)

Connor has discovered his feet! It's hysterical to watch him play with his feet.....I mean, who knew feet could be so interesting!

He is still working on rolling over. He has done it a couple of times, but still isn't too fond of being on his tummy. He was playing on the floor on Saturday, and I stepped into the kitchen for a bit. All the sudden, I heard him crying, and I thought, "Oh s**t, I am a terrible mom. I left my baby playing with his toys and something bad happened....s**t!!!!" Turns out, the little booger had rolled over onto his stomach and was ticked off about it! Lol! AND, I missed it!

We go in for his 4 moth check-up on the 3rd, so I will post his stats soon. Justin stepped on the scale with him a couple days ago, and he weighs about 14-15 lbs! That formula has REALLY put the pounds on our little guy! But no worries, he burns TONS of calories wiggling around everyday! Lol!

Check out Connor's new toy! I have to put a little blanket in there to hold him up sometimes. The first time I put him in it, he screamed in terror! I felt AWFUL! Then I fed him, and we tried again. It went a little better after a nice dinner :)

I wanted my picture taken with my son, but obviously the ceiling fan was much more interesting than Mom :)

Latest Happenings in the Scarlet Household

It's been a while, so I thought I would provide a quick update of what we have had going on around here!

The weekend of June 28th, my Uncle Steve came into town from Kansas City. He and my Grandmother came by to see Connor! Never a dull moment with Uncle Steve! He always has EVERYONE laughing! :)

Fourth of July weekend, Justin and I left little Connor with his Nana and Granddad, OVERNIGHT, so that we could spend a little time with friends at the lake. I spent Friday running around, getting ready to head out of town. I can't BELIEVE how much EXTRA work it is to get a little one ready for ONE night out. Unbelievable. Saturday, we arrived in Northwest Arkansas at the Freeman's new house (Congrats!) just in time for a lovely rain storm. After waiting it out for a couple hours, the weather cleared up, and it turned into a VERY beautiful day! And no, no pics from that weekend....momma is NOT happy with how she looks in her swimsuit this summer LOL! :) But hey, here's a picture of Connor in the big bathtub with mommy. He LOVES the big bathtub! (and don't worry....all you can see is mommy's hands and part of her foot...lol)

Last Weekend I went out with a few mom's (new mom's, more experienced mom's, and a mom to be), and I had a great time! We had dinner at Rolando's and a few after dinner drinks at Doe's. Of course, we talked A LOT about our kiddos, but managed to work in some adult conversation as well. When I came home, Connor was bathed and in bed. Thanks Justin! And thanks for helping me to not feel guilty for going out to have a little "me" time! You're the best :)

Last Night we had Ashley and Jocelyn over for dinner. Jocelyn is one of Connor's little girlfriends, and MAN is she ca-UTE! It was so much fun to see them interact. They were both like, "Hey, you're a little squishy person like me!".....atleast that's what I think they were thinking :)
"Hey girl, can I getcha' a drink?"

We are going to have to teach Connor that when you talk to women, you should always look them in the eyes, NOT at their chest...lol!

Isn't Jocelyn adorable? She has the sweetest little smile :)

And last but not least here is a picture of our little man one week from being 4 months old! The love I feel for this little guy gets stronger and stronger every second of every day. Connor James, you are the light of our lives, and we thank God every single day for blessing us with your sweetness :)
